Idril92

By Hethxxx

I know that Idril has inspired many to start editing, so I think that she is very deserving to this award! Her edits are always awe-worthy and not one is unkind to the eye – in fact much the opposite! The detail in her work never ceases to amaze me, even in her most simplest of works, and for that, I think, is why she won this award.

But she didn’t win it just for that reason, below you will find out that she has a lovely sense of humour and seems very kind (Not to mention an awesome music taste, in my opinion), along with a slight obsession with pirates. So I’m sure that you’ll all enjoy this interview with her!

Who She is:

Idril92′s MissBimbo Profile

Idril92′s Blog

Name: Sara.
Nickname(s): Don’t really have one. Sometimes my sister affectionately calls me “Cacca” (which in english means “Poo” – she’s nice, isn’t she? ), but I wouldn’t consider that a real nickname.
Age: 19.
Location: Italy, Rome.
Who do you live with?: Parents.
Do you have siblings, if so how many?: Yes, one sister.
Favorite television show: Lost, Alias, The Vampire Diaries, Buffy.

Type of music/artist: Muse, Evanescence, Linkin Park, Panic! At the Disco, Maroon 5, Christina Aguilera, Coldplay, P!nk and others.
Favorite movie: Well, I do really have a lot! First of all Pirates of the Caribbean 1,2,3,4 (as if you didn’t notice, eh? ), then Avatar, X-men, Iron Man (and all the other superheroes movies), The Prestige, Inception (movies by Christopher Nolan, more generically), Van Helsing and pretty much all the movies concerning vampires which do not sparkle.

Interview:

How long have you been a member of MissBimbo? 936 game days (a big achievement for me, as I easily get bored with internet games).

What’s your favorite aspect of MissBimbo? Forums and editing contests, and all the great artists I found there.

How long have you been editing? According to the date my computer writes near one of my very first edits, I started approximately around the 27/03/2009.

What inspired you to start editing? Well, when it comes to art and creativity, I consider myself a person who likes exploring a lot. Add the fact that I had just started using Photoshop and that I was absolutely dazzled by all the possibilities it offered me and…bang! I started editing clothes on the bimbo doll.

What inspired you to start making backgrounds? Actually my inspiration – and not only mine, I think – was Arialvetica. I always found her backgrounds were incredible, and wanted to give it a try myself.

Do you edit your backgrounds from scratch? Or start with a base image? I often start with a base image, or other times I combine more images to obtain what I want.

What’s your favorite thing about editing? It’s actually very funny, and never boring, and that’s enough!

What artistic outlets do you have outside of MissBimbo? I like drawing a lot, even if I still need to get better. And I enjoy writing, too, and creating my own jewelry items. Lastly, I started university this year, where I’m studying Graphic Design, and I find it soooo exciting!

What’s your favorite thing to edit?  Uhm…I don’t know! I like faces because they take less time, I enjoy a lot creating poses (don’t like to recolour them, though ), and I find it very interesting creating clothes. Hair are nice to do, too.

How did you come up with your screen name? With a “Create your elf name and bla bla blah” generator. Idril meant “Amore”, the italian word for “love”, and 92 is just my birth year.

How long does an edit generally take you? From 2 to 5 hours, depends if I have to create everything (pose, hair, clothing etc.) or not.

What sort of color palette do you prefer to work with? I don’t actually think I have a favourite colour palette, as I always try to create my items in a wide variety of colours, but I do like darker tones more.

How would you describe your style of editing? Well, I try to keep my shadowing style quite similar to the one we have in Nine’s. But for what regards editing style…I don’t know? I suppose something between fantasy and a little bit of gothic. Can I have a “Ask the Audience” option?

What sort of things do you do to improve your editing? I like seeing what other people do, I like to learn from different styles, and I also like to look at tutorials, not just about editing, but art in general.

What editors do you admire on MB and why?
Ok, I’m not going to bore you with a long paragraph of names…oh I admit it, actually I will.
Well, to start off, I’ll name KcPooh13, Misholina and Mackiesmommy2007. We practically began together editing – or at least, they were there when I began – and I always saw them as some sort of models to me, with a little bit of competitiveness, too, but in a good way, always aiming for improvement and not rivalry. Arialvetica was pretty much like a goddess of editing to me when I first started (and she still is!). Ann Madison – the same goes for her incredible skills. For what concerns Maynababy, Juleona and Alyssamoon: guys, you came out from one day to the other, and you were already so good! I’m always looking forward to see what you’ll come up with next! Scarletcore, Misscox, Riyaa13, Kairuh, Jelena19: I always love how their editing styles managed to look so clean and flawless. Horatia, I always loved her gothic style, and she’s also a lovely Mod! Hip89: she was already good when she just used Paint to edit, now I love her work even more. Blksnobunnie, I absolutely love her fashion sense and her editing skills. Trillyke, she’s such a lovely person, and I adore her edits, so colorful! Marioo, her edits are so shiny! WhimsicalRingtone, her hairstyles are just too good, and her edits so realistic! Nebby, too, her artistic skills are formidable. Alexzus, the clothes she got in Nine’s were fantastic, and her style is really great. Oogie, love her use of patterns and her beautiful gowns. Pr1nc3sskaylee, her Pin Ups and her shadowing method are stunning. MysteriousPanda99, Sapharii, Ibelievenangel, you are all incredible girls, and you improved so much since you arrived!
I’m sure I forgot something, but…wow, seems like I wrote too much! The essential thing is that I admire every single editor of this site, just because you exist! *-*

What editing program do you use? I use Adobe Photoshop cs5.

Where do you get your inspiration for edits? I like looking through google images.

How do you come up with the ideas for your backgrounds? I just think about enviroments I would like to see my bimbo in. The stranger they are, the funnier it is to recreate my ideas!

Is there any sort of genre you prefer to edit in? I like fantasy a lot!

What advice do you have for new editors? First of all: have fun! Never give up even if you’re at your first tries, and your results are not what you hoped. You’ll get better soon, nobody’s born perfect. And ask for advice. There are loads of editors ready to answer to your doubts and help you! And… I know a lot of people already said this…but work on layers! And save your work very often, don’t do like me.

What’s the most important thing you’ve learned about editing? You can never tell if your edit is going to be horrible until it’s finished, so I’ve learnt to actually never look at my edit crithically until I add the last touches. Then, if it is really that horrible, you can burn it.

How many hours a week do you spend on edits for MB? This varies a lot from time to time. Sometimes I do not edit for a whole month, and then I go all crazy about it again and spend way too much time on editing.

INTERVIEW:

How long have you been a member of MissBimbo? I’ve been on and off of MB few times before. But I stuck this time for 515.
What’s your favorite aspect of MissBimbo? Drawing and designing.

How long have you been editing? I don’t Edit Since I do everything from scartch. I’ve started with computer graphics almost 5 years now.

What inspired you to start editing? When I came back to MB I didn’t know people started to do contest and edit or draw. One of my friends there suggested that I praticipate on an anime contest. I thought I had to cosplay my bimbo. I was at an early level, so, not enough bd. My friend told me I could edit. I took editing literally. I thought I had to edit an existing item cause it’s the way it’s done there. So, I made something with few items used from nines. I didn’t take the whole thing seriously at the time and most of the things I made were speedies. But after a while when I understood that I have the freedom to do whatever I want, I began to take it seriously and take the time to create my designs.

What inspired you to start making backgrounds? Well, even though I only made one, I’d say that MB doll is what inspired me.

Do you edit your backgrounds from scratch? Or start with a base image? I draw everything myself. Editting has to be on an existing media. I wish if we would use edit more specifically.

What’s your favorite thing about editing? I get to finish it in short time compared to painting.

What artistic outlets do you have outside of MissBimbo? Drawing, painting, designing fashion and jewelry.

What’s your favorite thing to edit? IE faces, poses, backgrounds, clothing, hair, etc… I don’t know. each one complement the other to me. except for backgrounds. I’d rather do one when I want to use it. It needs more work and I have to be in the mood ^^”

How did you come up with your screen name? It’s a combination of my favourite Tekken girls’ names.

How long does an edit generally take you? It depends on what I’m working on. Maybe 6 hours at least.

What sort of color palette do you prefer to work with? Any, except neon colors. I don’t use them a lot and when I do, it have to in small doeses!

How would you describe your style of editing? I had to sit back here and think… I don’t know.

What sort of things do you do to improve your editing? Anything. If I have to mess everything up to fix one thing I’ll do it and then re-eorganize it all over again. I’d rather experiment and take my time with what I do. I like to read and wacth tutorials from time to time too. I also like to look at my work for few minuts from sometimes. It helps me see my mistakes so I can try to fix and avoid them in the future.

What editors do you admire on MB and why? MaynaBaby. she has a very unique style. I like her coloring tecnique and how she always thinks outside the box. Jelena19, I admire how she has improved in a short amount of time. her hairstyles are beautifully detailed. Her colthes are always perfectly done. Alb, I used to stalk her to see if she made something new. Hated the fact that she has no blog. Glad she’s on DA! Addidut, I could deiscribe her work with one word “classy”. I also like work from others like Alexzus, Scarletcore, MM07, Blksnobunnie, MissCox, Trillyke. They all are talented and each has there own distinctive style. it’s hard to get into details with everyone (lazeh). There are more ofcourse. Can’t remember everyone!

What editing program do you use? Photoshop CS3.

Where do you get your inspiration for edits? Imagination, nature, histroy, colors.

How do you come up with the ideas for your backgrounds? I was working on a new background lately and this is how I think ofwhat should do. I work on the doll first and after it’s done, I think of what sort of inviornment she would fit into. considering her outfit, makeup and pose. if I want her into a closed space, like a room, I’ll have to look for furniture for inspiration. if I want her into a garden, I look for picture of flowers, trees etc…

Is there any sort of genre you prefer to edit in?  Historical, fantasy, haute couture. I also like to create simple and ordinary clothes.

What advice do you have for new editors? Don’t hold yourself back. keep trying and experimenting. and most of all be creative. Don’t follow someones’ footsteps all the time. Express yourself and do what you like, not what people like.

What’s the most important thing you’ve learned about editing? I enjoy it more than I thought I would.

How many hours a week do you spend on edits for MB? Can’t say really.

Pin-up Contest – The Winner’s Interviews

By Hethxxx

The new theme, ‘Pin-Up’, has recently been added to the collection of fabulous clothes on MissBimbo! To celebrate this, Bimbobin held a contest asking editors to create a Pin-Up themed edit. So many wonderful entries were made, but of course, not all could win. Here are the five top winners with their thoughts and opinions on the theme and the contest…

1st Place

Angelique le Boursier

How did you feel about coming first place in the Pin-Up contest?
I feel great, its good when someone likes my work, I think any editor feels great, because we editors dedicate hours to make a cool edit.
Who’s edit did you like the most other than your own?
I liked MM2007 very much, she is very original. I love how she edits.
Do you dislike any of the designs in the MissBimbo Pin-Up collection?
Well, I liked more the hairs than the outfits…. It should have more outfits, I had higher expectations.
How did you make your edit individual?
I don’t know, really, I think its hard to answer. I tried to put some emotions there. How I edit depends on my mood, too. I also mix styles, I research a lot, if I can see a nice skirt there, and a nice corset in another place, I mix them all together make a dress or other outfit and try to put my style there. I like gothic, pin up, rockabilly, lolita, horror,Victorian styles.
Are you happy with your entry? Would you change anything about it?
Well, I didn’t get too satisfied with it, I’m still learning editing techniques on Photoshop, but I liked the idea to edit a red hood with a evil wolf. i think I would change just the corset and the cap too… and for me, the colours should be more real. Well, I’m very critique, lol.

2nd Place

Blksnobunnie

What did you first think when you heard the Pin-Up theme was coming?
I was excited to see If we were gonna have a rockabilly based pinup or more classic, I pretty happy with what we have, and I hope there is more things to come.. i.e. dresses, makeup and some cute jackets.
What’s your favorite item in the Pin-Up collection?
I love the swimsuits.. the sailor swimsuit is Just adorable and sexy.
What do you think made Pin-Up so popular at MissBimbo, and is it a style that you favour?
Yes it’s one of the styles I favor, cause its sexy without being trashy.. I think it became popular cause of the edgy beauty.
Why did you choose the colours you used for your edit?
Cause I thought it would be sexy against my she-hulks green skin… and it complimented the hair color also.
Should BimboBin hold more contests in the future?
Yes for sure.. I love that it gives everyone a chance, especially the scoring system that Nebby uses.. and it has good themes.

3rd Place

MackiesMommy2007

What inspired your edit?
A Google image of a girl in turquoise lingerie :)
What were your thoughts on the theme?
When I read that we were getting a pin-up theme, I was so excited. So much can be done with this theme for all aspects of Miss Bimbo.
Do you think Dollphane could have done a better job with the theme, or do you like how it turned out?
The stuff he made is wonderful, but I think he could have done more. I had high hopes for this theme and am sad to say I’m disappointed. The best part of the theme is the new hair.
If you were to make the theme, is there anything that you would have improved?
I would have added some dresses, some different kinds of pants, some lingerie, some different makeup, and maybe some tattoo sleeves. I would have also made some boyfriend clothes, baby clothes and something for pets. It’s been a while since we’ve had new stuff in those departments.
Who’s entry do you wish could have been yours if you had the choice, and why?
I loved all the entries, I’m glad I didn’t have to choose the winners :) I really liked Trillyke’s entry, the details and colors, it’s adorable!

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

4th Place

Trillyke

What’s the thing you were most excited about for the theme?
Yes, I was very excited. I caught the fancy of the idea right when the players could vote for the theme. I presumed we would get lots of lingeries, and I was delighted when I saw how nice they were.
What type of Pin-Up is your favorite?
My favourite type is the pirate styled Pin-Up. If somebody hasn’t known it yet, I’m a big fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean, that’s why I chose a pirate girl at this contest. But I also like the gothic type. I just love those hot corsets.
Do you like the different combinations that you can make with the MissBimbo designs?
Of course. My big favorites are the lingerie’s, the Rita and the Nina Bathsuits. These pieces of clothing are very typical of the Pin-Up style, and they can be easily combined with the other clothes. They can be used even as tops. Furthermore, the new shoes can be put on with anything, and they are all very nice.
Have you ever edited in a Pin-Up style before the contest?
Of course, it wasn’t the first occasion. This theme is many-sided, because there are many kinds of the Pin-Up. If i remember well, I have 5 more edits besides this: one pirate girl, a christmas Pin-Up, a gothic lolita and two more gothic edits. And I also have a background with one of the gothic Pin-Up edits.
If one editor could make a Pin-Up theme for the site, who would you choose?

If I could choose one, I would choose MackiesMommy2007. And why? Because her works would look gorgeous on the site. And I guess many would like it.

5th Place

ChantillyLace84

Were you disappointed when the theme came, or was it up to your expectations?
Well, yes and no. I was happy with the style of the clothing. I was much more interested in getting a Rockabilly style theme than an actual pin up. So in that sense I’m happy with it. I love the cherry patterns, sailor style, vintage swimwear and so on. I’m very disappointed that it’s such a small theme though. No dresses, no bracelets, no necklaces, no purses and no jackets. I feel there was so much more that could have been done.
Do you like editing in a Pin-Up style?
I love editing in a pin up style. But like I said, more to the Rockabilly side of pin up rather than actually creating pin ups.
Has the theme inspired you to make Pin-Up a more regular thing in your edits?
I think it’s pretty often found in my edits. I’d say it’s my personal favorite style. It doesn’t always fit into what you’re trying to edit, but I like to see it as much as I can.
What made you enter the contest?
I’m into doing anything with Pinup in the title. I love that era, that style and how creative and sexy you can be with it.
Do you think this was a fun contest, and did you have fun making your entry?
I did think it was a fun contest with some really stiff competition. And I enjoyed making my entry. Anytime I get the chance to do a sexy pinup I take it.

1.

Nebby

By Chantillylace84

The members have spoken and November’s Editor of the Month is our very own Nebby. We don’t see her around the contests forums as much as we’d like to, but when we do her work is always amazing. However if you spend anytime in the Arts & Creativity section of the Miss Bimbo forums and you’re an editor, you’ve no doubt used one of her fantastic tutorials.
And let’s not forget that she brought us this site. She created and maintains BimboBin, this wonderful community where we can all get together and share our work. So let’s get to know a little more about our very own Nebby.

Who she is:

Nebby’s Portfolio Website

Nebby’s  MissBimbo Profile

Name: Marlene

Nickname(s)?: Mar, Mar-Mar, Mamar

Age: 22

Location: Connecticut, USA

My Family and our 5 dogs

Do you have siblings, if so how many?:
One, a younger brother (19)

Favorite television show: Fringe

Favorite food or type of food: Chicken Tikka Masala (a Indian Dish)

Favorite movie: Pretty Woman

Favorite book: Pet Sematary – Stephen King

The most influential/life-changing event in your life: I really do not know. Most people say when they get married, have children, or get a great job that they love. None of these things have happened to me, and my life has been pretty mild since I was born.

Where would you like to travel?: Everywhere. But, if I had to pick one place it would be any different galaxy.

What is your greatest fear?: Beetles, Cockroaches, and/or Spiders everywhere

Who is your hero?:
No one. I admire qualities and talents in people, but I do not idealize just one.

A little more about me: Art is pretty much my whole life. I like looking at it, making it, and sharing it. I love all types of art – crafts, painting, drawing, digital art, advertising, packaging, logo design, mixed media, … I am interested in almost every type of visual art to some degree. I am very creative and full of ideas (both wacky and realistic ones). Currently in my life I am just looking for a full-time job (I have been for months) and making my own art for enjoyment, as well as doing a few freelance jobs here and there. I have no real life friends, besides my boyfriend and my dogs. My boyfriend and I are in a long distance relationship, and we’ve been together over 3 years. I have 5 dogs, all Australian Shepherds – I love them to death! They are named: Nebula, Comet, Astro, Aurora, and Luna.

Interview:

How long have you been a member of MissBimbo? 743 days

What’s your favorite aspect of MissBimbo?
The community/forums

Have you participated in fashion contests since the beginning? When I first joined, I didn’t really go onto the forums. The fashion contest section was the first section that caught my eye, and I mostly lurked to see what people were creating.

How long have you been editing? Over a year I would guess. I am not a very active editor on Miss Bimbo compared to others. However, I have been creating art and using Photoshop and such for about 6 years.

What inspired you to start editing? I saw a few others doing it, and thought – “I can do this, too”. So, I just did it.

What inspired you to start making backgrounds?
Miss Bimbo needed some great, detailed backgrounds at the time and I thought I would join in with the few others. I started after Arialvetica and MackiesMommy2007 were making them.

Do you edit your background from scratch? Or start with a base image? Most of the time I make them from scratch, but I do get free vector images to use sometimes. I also look at stock photo websites for inspiration when I create furniture, accessories, landscapes, etc. When I make them from images, I usually combine many (8-10+) to make it my own.

What’s your favorite thing about editing? If it’s used for a contest, then winning. I am very competitive. If it’s just for fun my favorite thing is making something unique, impressing someone else, or making someone smile.

What artistic outlets do you have outside of MissBimbo? Lots, I do crafts around all major holidays. For Halloween I make costumes, and help people apply makeup. Besides that, I do some freelance work – and I am a active member of many design communities on the internet.

What’s your favorite thing to edit? Probably backgrounds and clothing

How did you come up with your screen name?
My favorite dog’s name is Nebula, and we call her Nebby as a nickname. I decided to use her nickname because Nebula was already taken as a user name, and I wanted something more unique to use.

How long does an edit generally take you?
Longer than it should. I tend to spend around 2 hours on most of my edits. I try to fit in lots of details, and I play around with lots of patters and textures. Some of my more complicated edits have taken me 8-12 hours. But, some of the easier ones have taken just 20 minutes.

What sort of color palette do you prefer to work with? No particular colors. I LOVE all colors, so I use ones that fit best with what I am designing.

How would you describe your style of editing? I have the ability to “mimic” many styles of design. I like to draw out some of my edits and use Photoshop to add patterns afterwards. This style usually gives the design a realistic feeling. I also like doing the “miss bimbo” way of editing with simple blocks for shading and highlights(called soft cell shading). This way gives a much cleaner outcome most of the time, and it matches the bimbo better. I would say that my own style is probably somewhere between the realistic and simple/clean styles.

What sort of things do you do to improve your editing? Probably just practice, and looking at inspiration for good ideas. You can perfect a technique easier than you can come up with great ideas every time. They more inspiration you get, the better your work will probably be.

What editors do you admire on MB and why? Ann Madison, Siriell, Idril92, Misholina, Ghost Opera, and more. These individuals have impressed and surprised me with their work on multiple occasions.

What editing program do you use? Mostly Photoshop CS4, but also Adobe Illustrator for backgrounds.

Where do you get your inspiration for edits?
Anywhere I can! Mostly the internet, but sometimes I will grab a magazine from my room and start looking for fashion ideas or a nice background design that might be in a magazine ad. I also have a large collection of design books that help me now and then.

How do you come up with the ideas for your backgrounds? Sometimes other people suggest things to me. And sometimes I think of them my own, or go Google searching.

Is there any sort of genre you prefer to edit in? Historical edits are fun, but my favorite things to edit are funny, unique, gross, scary or odd.

Do you prefer working with patterns or plain colors? Patterns, definitely. I spend half of my time when doing an edit, looking for a pattern I want to work with.

What advice do you have for new editors? Look for lots of inspiration, practice, read tutorials (both at Miss Bimbo and other places on the internet). Ask for help, and ask specific questions.

What’s the most important thing you’ve learned about editing? I learned how competitive I can get over little design contests. :P

How many hours a week do you spend on edits for MB? ehhh, not as much as others. I probably make one edit a month on average. However, on occasion I will make a few things one week, or in one day if I get in a certain mood.

Steampunk is here!

Our Bimbos can now travel in time to the Victorian era – with some high tech gears in the mix.
That’s right – steampunk theme arrived at Miss Bimbo and is looking awesome!
Anyone wondering what Steampunk is?

“Golden Compass.” “BioShock.” Alan Moore’s “League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.”  These things might not seem to have much in common, but they’re fundamental elements of a trend that’s hiding in plain sight.

Like a beacon of light out of the cyberpunk scene, Steampunk is a sci-fi subculture that offers a fresh, romanticized view on technology by making it retro. Take a look and you’ll see it all around you: In fashion, films, literature, bands, music videos, video games, maybe even in your own wardrobe.
Sci-fi usually connotes something from the future, but not always. The widely acknowledged founding fathers of steampunk, late-19th-century authors Jules Verne and H.G. Wells, took then-modern technology and set it in the steam age. Airships, submarines, typing tools and others objects were reimagined as mechanical devices that were powered by, you guessed it, steam.

But enough with history and let’s talk fashion!

The new theme isn’t big but some of the pieces are just amazingly done and are incredibly pretty – specially the shoes! The open toed heels and the rocker boots give a touch of modern to an theme that is inspired when large and puffy dresses ruled the World.
The new theme designed by Dollphane has some adorable pants and some socks that remind me somehow of a movie I seen.
It’s completed with goggles – both for face and head – and corsets and bikinis!
If you are VIB you also get some neat suspenders and some cute little camo shorts.
One detail that you must notice is what’s present in the holster – it’s well detailed and it also has a gun to go with it.

There are tons of ways to mix and match the new clothes with themselves – or even with previous themes!
Lida_Mina, my gorgeous assistant, gave me the pleasure of being presented by some of her creations – notice how this theme blends in with itself; creating an infinity of outfits!

And everything is possible with this theme – it’s perfectly matchable with another Nine’s clothes.

But if you like to edit and have a free mind you should see the amazing work of the designers we have on MissBimbo.
